Bu çalısma, su itici bazı emprenye maddelerinin bazı vernikler ile üstyüzey islemine tabitutulan agaç malzeme yüzeyinde meydana gelen parlaklık, pandüllü sertlik ve renközelliklerine etkisini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıstır. Bu maksatla, Uludag göknarı (Abiesbornmülleriana Mattf.) ve kestane (Castanea sativa Mill.) odunundan ASTM 358'e görehazırlanan örnekler ASTM-D 1413 esaslarına göre protim WR-230 ve imersol aquakullanılarak basınç yöntemi ile emprenye edildikten sonra, ASTM 3023 esaslarınauyularak su bazlı ve poliüretan vernikler ile verniklenmistir. Örneklerin renk ölçümüASTM?D 2244, parlaklık degeri TS 4318 ve pandüllü sertlik degerleri ASTM-D 4366esaslarına göre belirlenmistir.Sonuç olarak; sertlik ölçümlerinde en yüksek deger, protim WR-230 ile emprenye edilmispoliüretan vernikli kestane örneklerinde (72,8), en düsük protim WR-230 ile emprenyeedilmis su bazlı vernikli göknar örneklerinde (16,2) elde edilmistir.Parlaklık ölçümlerinde en yüksek parlaklık degeri, liflere paralel yönde protim WR-230 ileemprenye edilmis poliüretan vernikli göknar örneklerde (92,58), en düsük liflere dik yöndeimersol aqua ile emprenye edilmis kontrol kestane örneklerinde (13,43) elde edilmistir.Renk ölçümlerinden; en yüksek kırmızı renk degeri, protim WR-230 ile emprenye edilmis,poliüretan vernikli kestane örneklerinde (11,25), en düsük emprenyesiz ve verniksizkontrol göknar örneklerinde (4,17), sarı renk degeri ise; en yüksek, imersol aqua ileemprenye edilmis poliüretan vernikli göknar örneklerde (31,84), en düsük emprenyesiz veverniksiz kontrol göknar örneklerinde (17,55) elde edilmistir.Buna göre emprenye maddeleri agaç malzemenin, yüzey sertligini, parlaklıgını ve renkdegisimini etkilemekte, ancak vernikleme isleminden sonra bu etki vernik çesidine göredegismektedir. Sonuç olarak; üst yüzey islemlerinin mekaniksel etkiye maruz kalacakyerlerde poliüretan vernik, renk degerini etkileyecek yerlerde ise su bazlı vernikkullanılması önerilebilir.

This study was carried out to determine the effects of some water repellent impregnatedmaterials on glossy, hardness with pendulum and color qualities which occurred on thesurface of the wood material which was applied in surface application with somevarnishes. In this way, after samples which were prepared of Uludag fir (Abiesbornmulleriana Mattf.) and chestnut (Castanea sativa Mill.) wood according to ASTM-358, were impregnated with pressure method by using protim WR- 230 and imersol aquaaccording to ASTM-D 1413, these samples were varnished with water based andpolyurethane varnishes according to ASTM-D 3023. Color measurement of samples wasdetermined according to ASTM-D 2244, glossy value was determined according to TS4318 and hardness with pendulum value was determined according to ASTM-D 4366.As a result; the highest value of hardness measurement was determined on the samples ofpolyurethane varnished chestnut (72.8) which were impregnated with protim WR-230, thelowest value was determined from the samples of water based varnished (16.2) fir whichwere impregnated with protim WR-230.In glossy measurements; the highest glossy value was detected on the samples ofpolyurethane varnished fir (92.58) which were impregnated with protim WR-230 inparallel with fibers. The lowest value was detected on the control samples of chestnut(13.43) which were impregnated with imersol aqua in vertical to fibers.In color improvements; the highest red color value was detected on the samples ofpolyurethane varnished chestnut (11.25) which were impregnated with protim WR-230.The lowest red color value was detected on the control samples of the fir (4.17) withoutimpregnation and varnish. For yellow color; the highest value was detected on the samplesof polyurethane varnished fir (31.84) which were impregnated with imersol aqua, thelowest value was detected on the control samples of fir (17.55) without impregnation andvarnish.According to that; impregnation materials affect the hardness of surface, glossy and colorchanges of wood material but after varnishing process, this effect changes according tovarnish kind. As a result, it can be suggested that polyurethane varnish is used in whichcovering surface applications will be exposed to mechanical effects, water based varnish isused in which covering surface applications will effect color value.
