Popülizm ve popülist siyaset biçimleri 2015-2016 Amerika Birleşik Devletleri Başkanlık seçimleri ile birlikte tüm dünyada daha çok tartışılmakta. Türkiye'de de, özellikle popülizm/popülist söylem neredeyse her alanda egemenliğini sağlamış durumda.Bu tez Türkiye'nin köklü kurumlarından Galatasaray Spor Kulübü'nde popülist bir yönetimi ve popülist stratejinin doğurduğu sonuçları incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır.Tez amacı doğrultusunda 23 Mart 2019 Yıllık Olağan Mali Genel Kurul toplantısında idari yönden ibra edilmeyen Mustafa Cengiz yönetiminin izlediği popülist siyaseti ve bu stratejinin Galatasaray 'camiasında' yarattığı bölünmeyi odağına almaktadır. Tez çalışması, kurum tarihçesinde ilk defa, Galatasaray olgusunun en önemli iki unsuru olan taraftarlar ve, aynı zamanda taraftar da olan, Genel Kurul üyelerinin, yine Genel Kurul'un seçtiği bir yönetim eli ile kamplaştırıldığını, taraftar grubu UltrAslan'ın bir oluşum olarak uzun yıllardır popülist tavır benimsediğini ve Mustafa Cengiz yönetiminin popülizminin kulübün resmi organlarının dışına taşmasında UltrAslan'ın araçlaştığını iddia etmektedir. Çalışmanın birinci bölümünde tezin amacı, araştırma sorusu ve katkısı yer alacak. İkinci bölümde ise kuramsal çerçeve popülizm üzerine kısa bilgi verilecek. Daha sonra üçüncü bölümde Galatasaray Spor Kulübü tarihçesi, üye ve taraftarlar ele alınacak. Dördüncü bölümde Galatasaray Spor Kulübü'nde popülizmin ilerleyişi farklı zamanlarda yaşanmış kritik görünen anlar üzerinden gösterilecek. Son bölümde ise araştırma sorusu ve hedefine dair değerlendirme ve önerilerin yer alacak.
Populism and populist discourse are being discussed more than ever with the impact of 2015-2016 United States of America presidential elections. In Turkey authoritarian populism is the dominant discourse in almost every area. This thesis aims to explore how populism/populist rhetoric is working in Galatasaray Sports Club, one of the most well founded institutions of Turkey, and the consequences that emerge out of it.The thesis is focusing on the populist strategy followed by Mustafa Cengiz administration, which were not administratively acquitted at the Galatasaray Sports Club Annual Financial General Assembly held in 23 March 2019. The thesis claims that two main elements of 'Galatasaray' notion, the fans and General Assembly members who are already fans, have been polarized by the hand of an administration, which is elected by General Assembly itself, for the first time in the Club's history, that UltrAslan embraces a populist attitude throughout its existence and that now UltrAslan functions as an instrument to expand Mustafa Cengiz administration's populism to outside the Club's decision making councils. The first chapter of the thesis will include the purpose, the research question and the contribution of the thesis. The second chapter will provide information on theoretical framework, populism. Later on, in the third chapter the history of Galatasaray Sports Club, member and supporters' profiles will be explored. With the fourth chapter populism in work at Galatasaray Sport Club will be shown through critical moments that occurred during the Mustafa Cengiz administration. In the last chapter the evaluation and suggestions regarding the research question and purpose will be given.
