ÖZET Balat, Uyanık, G., Altı yaş grubu korunmaya muhtaç ve ailesinin yanında kalan çocukların okula hazır bulunuştuk ile ilgili temel kavram bilgilerinin incelenmesi, Hacettepe Üniversitesi, Sağlık Bilimleri Enstitüsü,Çocuk Gelişimi ve Eğitimi Programı Doktora Tezi, Ankara, 2003. Bu araştırma kapsamında korunmaya muhtaç ve ailesinin yanında kalan altı yaş grubu çocukların okula hazır bulunuşluk ile ilgili temel kavram bilgilerinin incelenmesi planlanmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini, İstanbul ili Kadıköy ilçesine bağlı özel ve resmi okullardan random yöntemi ile seçilen 11 farklı okula devam eden 462 çocuk ile İstanbul Sosyal Hizmetler Çocuk Esirgeme Kurumu Müdürlügü'ne bağlı 4 farklı kurumda bulunan 51 çocuk olmak üzere toplam 513 oluşturmuştur. Çocukların okula hazır bulunuşluk ile ilgili temel kavram bilgi düzeyleri kurumda ve aile yanında kalma, cinsiyet, sosyoekonomik düzey, okul öncesi eğitimden yararlanma, anne ve baba eğitim düzeyleri, gibi değişkenlere göre değerlendirilmiş ve parametrik olmayan testler kullanılmıştır. Boehm Temel Kavramlar Testinin (Boehm-3) güvenilir ve geçerli bir test olduğu bulunmuştur. Kurumda ve aile yarımda kalma, anne-baba eğitim düzeyi, çocuğun okul öncesi eğitimden yararlanma durumu ve farklı sosyoekonomik düzeyde bulunan çocukların okula hazır bulunuşlukla ilgili kavram puanlan arası fark anlamlı bulunmuştur. Örneklemi oluşturan çocukların %25.3'ünün okula hazır bulunuşluk ve okul başarısı ile ilgili becerilerde öğrenme güçlüğü açısından risk altında olduğu bulunmuştur. ABSTRACT Balat, Uyanık, G., Studies on the basic concept formation of the six year old group children needing protection and living with their families concerning their being ready to attend the school, Ph.D. Thesis of Child Development and Education Program, Institute of Health Sciences, Hacettepe University, Ankara, 2003. This research was based on the purpose of the examination of the readiness level of the children living with their families and needing protection for school and the relevant basic conceptual information observed at the age group of six.The sample group of this study has been composed of 513 children in total, 51 from 4 different institutions under Istanbul Social Services, Protection Houses for Orphans, and 462 children attending to 11 different schools randomly selected among the private and public schools located in Kadiköy district of Istanbul province. The level of basic conceptual information and knowledge of the children related with their readiness level for school has been evaluated in respect of variables such as gender, socio-economic level, the advantages of having early childhood education, the educational level of their parents and nonparametric tests were utilized. It was realized that BOEHM-3 was an reliable and valid test in order to determine levels of concept development of Turkish children. In addition to the difference between the conceptual points of the children in respect of the level of their readiness for school has been found significant among the children with different educational level of their parents, the opportunities and advantages of pre-school education benefited by the children and the varying socio-economic level of their families, the situation of the children living with their families and living in the orphans houses. The results indicated that 25.3 % of the children involved in study, are having risk of learning disabilities relating school readiness and success. Key Words: Children at the age group of six.
