Bu tezin amacı 2008 Küresel Krizi'ne yol açan etkenleri, olguların ve teorinin tarihsel oluşumu içinde arayıp bulmaktır. Böylelikle bu etkenlerin birbiriyle ilişkileri kurulabilir. 2008 Krizi modern toplumun tarihindeki en karmaşık küresel nitelikli krizdir. Bu krizi anlamak, genel olarak kriz teorisinin gelişimi açısından önemlidir. Krizler iktisadın diğer konularından belli ölçüde farklılık gösterir. Onlar doğal afetler ve salgın hasta-lıkları andırır. O nedenle daha yetkin bir kriz teorisi, krizleri öngörebilmek, onları ön-lemek veya etkilerini hafifletmek açısından gereklidir. Tıpkı salgın hastalıklar gibi krizler de bazı maddi, hastalık yapıcı/kriz yaratıcı unsurlar ve gelişecek uygun ortam ister. Fakat bunlar yetmez. İnsan bilgisinin onları önlemekteki yetersizliği de bir başka gerekliliktir. Hatta bazen insan bilgisinin yetersizliği bizzat kriz yaratıcı bir etken halini alabilir. 2008 Krizi söz konusu olduğunda bu çalışmanın öne sürdüğü tez; geçmiş krizlerin içindeki unsurların uygun şartlarla bir araya gelerek yeni bir kriz yaratıcı `organizma' oluşturduğu; ve 2008 Krizi'ne yol açan bu organizmanın bünyesinin oluşup gelişmesinde yerleşik iktisadi düşüncenin bizatihi kolaylaştırıcı bir etken olarak rol oynadığıdır. Bu tez çalışmasında ayrıca, kriz teorisinin mevcut yetersizliklerinden büyük ölçüde kurtulabilmesi için hangi yanlış esasları terk etmesi ve yeni teorinin hangi temeller üzerinde yükselmesi gerektiği hakkında bir yaklaşım ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır.
This thesis aspires to find out the causes of the 2008 Global Crisis in the historical realm of facts and theory. Thus the relationship between these causes can be established. The 2008 Crisis is the most complicated global crisis in the history of modern society. Understanding this crisis is particularly important for the general development of crisis theory. Crises are, to a certain extent, different from other topics of economics. They resemble natural disasters and epidemics. Therefore a more competent crisis theory is necessary to foresee crises, prevent them or diminish their consequences. Just like epidemics, crises need sickness causing/crisis creating elements and an appropriate environment to develop. But these are not sufficient. Another necessary condition is lack of human knowledge to prevent them. Actually, sometimes insufficient human knowledge can itself turn into a crisis creating effect. Regarding the 2008 Crisis, this study puts forward that the elements incorporated in previous crises have come together under proper circumstances to form a new crisis creating `organism?; and that, in the formation and development of this organism, the mainstream economic theory has specifically played an enhancing role. This study also tries to point out the wrong premises that the crisis theory has to get rid of in order to avoid the present inadequacies, and presents an approach as to what the foundations of the new theory should be.
