ÖZET Mısır ve Grek kültürünün kaynaşmasını sağlamak için ortaya çıkarılan, tanrı Osiris ile Apis'in birleşimi olan Serapis kültü bütün Akdeniz dünyasına yayılmıştır. Serapis kültünün Ege Adalarına, Anadolu'ya, Yunanistan'a, İtalya ve Roma'ya kadar yayılmasındaki sebeplerden birisi, onun bünyesinde pek çok tamının özelliklerini banndırmasıdır. Tanrı Serapis Grek tanrılarından Zeus, Asklepios, Dionysos, Hades ve Poseidon ile Mısır tanrısı Helios ile özdeşleşmiştir. Böylesine güçlü bir tanrının Anadolu topraklarına yayılması ve hemen hemen her bölgesinde tapınım görmesi kaçınılmazdır. Bu yayılımda Ptolemaioslarm egemenliğinin ve propagandasımn etkisi büyüktür. Serapis kültünün Anadolu'daki varlığı, arkeolojik bulgular, sikkeler ve epigrafik yazıtlarla ortaya çıkarılmıştır. Bu kanıtlara dayanarak Serapis kültünün Anadolu'daki tapınımınm uzun yıllar sürdüğü görülmektedir. Hıristiyanlığın benimsenmesine kadar tapınım gören son tanrılardan birisi olmuştur. Bunun sebebi de,insanlara öldükten sonra yeniden dirilmeyi vaad eden, hastalık iyileştiren, denizcilerin koruyucusu, evrenin hakimi gibi pek çok sıfatı taşımasıdır. Serapis'in taşıdığı bu sıfatlan, epigrafik yazıtlardan ve ele geçen sikkelerdeki tanrının tasvirlerinden yola çıkarak ortaya konulmuştur. Bu yazıtlarda "şifa veren", "evrenin hakimi", "denizcilerin koruyucusu" gibi tanımlamalara rastlanmıştır. Ayrıca sağlık sembolü yılan, bereket sembolü kalathos, yer altı dünyasının sembolü kerberos ile karşılaşılmaktadır. Taşıdığı sıfatların etkisiyle Anadolu'nun pek çok şehrine Serapis kültü yayılmış ve uzun bir süre tapınımı devam etmiştir. 98
SUMMARY The cult of Serapis, which was created as a combination of the Gods Osiris and Apis to combine the cultures of Egypt and Greek, has been spread through the Mediterranean world. One of the reasons for the cult of Serapis being spread through Aegean Islands, Anatolia, Greece, Italy and Rome was its nature of combining the features of many Gods. The Gods of Serapis has been identified with Greek Gods of Zeus, Asklepios, Dionysos, Hades and Poseidon and an Egypt God of Helios. It was unavoidable for such a powerful God to be spread through the land of Anatolia and to be worshipped. The sovereignty and propaganda activities of Ptolemaioses had great effects on that spreading. Existence of the cult of Serapis in Anatolia discovered by means of archaeological findings, coins and epigraphic inscriptions. It is seen that the worship of the cult of Serapis existed for a long time in Anatolia by depending on this evidences. It was one of the last Gods being worshipped until the acceptance of Christianity. The reason of this fact is the characteristics carried by it such as promising to reanimate dead persons, curing patients, saving the sailors, the master of the universe. Such characteristics of Serapis discovered depending on the descriptions of God in epigraphic inscriptions and on the coins found. In the said inscriptions, such descriptions as "curing", "the master of universe", "protector of sailors" were detected. In addition, health symbol of snake, fertility symbol of kalathos, underground world's symbol of kerberos were detected. The cult of Serapis was spread through many cities in Anatolia and being worshipped for a long time as a result of its characteristics. 99
