Bu çalışmada, günümüz sanatçılarından Mehmet Başbuğ seçilerek, sanatçının resimleri 1980 Sonrası Türk Resim Sanatında Figüratif Eğilimler konusu içerisinde irdelenmiştir. Çalışmanın amacı, Figüratif Türk Resminin başlangıcı, izlediği tarihi, etkilenim alanları, teknik süreci ve bu süreci etkileyen sosyal, kültürel, ekonomik vb. değişkenlerle ele alarak, gelişim sürecini yorumlamak ve Türk Resim Sanatında figüratif resim anlayışında önemli eserler üreten Mehmet Başbuğ'un sanatını incelemektir. 1980 sonrası dönem, Türk Resim Sanatı için zengin yaratım alanlarının kapılarının açıldığı üretken bir dönemdir. Bu bağlamda 1980'den günümüze çok sayıda ressam figüratif çalışmalarıyla dikkat çekmiş ve bu süreçte önemli sergi ve sanat etkinlikleri düzenlenmiştir. Bu araştırma kapsamında örneklenen seçki, bu zengin birikimin küçük bir temsilidir. Bununla birlikte bu süreç içinde, sanatçıları, eserleri ve dönemiyle birlikte tanımak, özellikle konu olarak alınan, kendi özgün duruşunu koruyan ve bu bağlamda yapıt veren Mehmet Başbuğ'un hayatını, etkilendiği sanat ortamını, tekniğini, konu seçimini, eserlerindeki tavrını ve üslupsal özelliklerini, seçilen yapıtlarıyla analiz etmek çalışmanın amacının vurgulanması açısından önem arz etmektedir.
In this study, Mehmet Basbug was selected from contemporary artists and his paintings were explicated in the context of Figurative Tendencies in Turkish Art after 1980. The aim of this study is to interpret the development process by considering the beginning of the Figurative Turkish Painting, its history, the areas of influence, the technical process and the social, cultural and economic variables affecting this process, and also Mehmet Başbuğ's art, which produces important works in the understanding of figurative painting in Turkish Art. The post-1980 is a productive period in which many creative areas are opened in Turkish Art. In this context, many painters, from 1980 onwards, draw attention with their figurative works and important exhibition and art events were organized in same period. The selection exemplified in the context of this study is a small representation of this rich heritage. However, in this process, it is particularly important to emphasize and study Mehmet Başbuğ's life, art scene, technique, subject selection, attitude and stylistic features which are taken as a subject here, in this study, with his selected works beside other artists with their work and period.
