Kitaibelia cinsi tüm dünyada 2 türle temsil edilmektedir. K. balansae türü Türkiye'den İsrail'e kadar doğal yayılış gösterirken, K. vitifolia türü ise, Balkanlar'dan Türkiye'ye kadar yayılışa sahiptir. Bu çalışma ile Türkiye Florası'nda Kitaibelia cinsisinin iki türünden biri olan K. balansae türünün, anatomik, palinolojik ve tohum yüzey özellikleri incelenmiştir. Çalışma, bitkilerin doğal alanlardan toplanması ve laboratuvar aşaması olmak üzere iki aşamadan oluşmaktadır. Arazi aşamasında toplanan örnekler herbaryum da saklanmıştır. Anatomik çalışmalar için arazide toplanan bitki örneklerinin gerekli kısımları %70'lik etil alkolde muhafaza edilmiştir. Örneklerin dokuları önce parafine doyurulmuş, sonra mikrotom ile kesitleri alınmıştır. Alınan kesitlere safranin-fastgreen ikili boyama metodu uygulanmıştır. Boyanmış bitki örnekleri sabit preparat haline getirilip, fotoğrafları çekilmiştir. Palinolojik çalışmalar için ise kuru çiçek örneklerinden polenler alınarak hem ışık mikroskobu hem de SEM görüntüleri çekilip palinolojik özellikleri belirlenmiştir. Tohum yüzey çalışmaları için SEM görüntüleri çekilip tohum yüzey özellikleri ortaya çıkarılmıştır. K. balansae'nin polen şekilleri prolatsferoidal-polipantoporat, polen ornamentasyonu ise rugulat olarak tespit edilmiştir. Tohum mikromorfolojisi orbikulat, ornemantasyonu rugulattır.
Kitaibelia genus is represented by 2 species all over the world. While the K. balansae has a natural distribution from Turkey to Israel, K. vitifolia is distributed from Turkey to Balkans. In this study, the anatomical, palynological and seed surface properties of K. balansae, which is one of two species of the Kitaibelia genus in the Flora of Turkey, was examined. The study consists of two phases: the collection of plants from natural areas and the laboratory phase. Samples collected during the field stored in the herbarium. The necessary parts of the plant samples were collected in the field for anatomical studies preserved in 70% ethyl alcohol bottles, The tissues of the samples were first saturated with paraffin and then sections were taken with a microtome. The saffron-fastgreen double staining method was applied to the sections taken. The dyed plant samples were made into a fixed preparation and their photographs were taken. For palynological studies, pollen taken from dried flower samples, and both light microscopy and SEM images taken and their palynological characteristics were determined. For seed surface studies, SEM images taken and seed surface properties were revealed. Aperture types of pollens are prolatspheroidal-polypantoporat. As a result of SEM studies, pollen ornamentation was determined as rugulate. In addition, when the seed micromorphology is examined, the orbiculate ornamentation is rugulate.
