Yapılan çalışma ile korunma ihtiyacı olan çocuklarla ilgili kurulan çocuk evleri modeline giden tarihsel süreçte açılan sosyal hizmet kurumlarını bir arada vermek, bu kurumların korunma ihtiyacı olan çocuklar için gerçekleştirdikleri sosyal hizmet faaliyetlerini ortaya koyabilmek ve Mutlu Yuva Derneği Modeli'nin sosyal hizmetten hareketle çocuklar için yaptığı çalışmaları bütüncül bir bakış açısı ile ele alarak modelin diğer sivil toplum örgütlerine örnek olması noktasında bir farkındalık oluşturmak amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmada Nitel Araştırma modeli çerçevesinde literatür taraması, dergi, makale, internet, arşiv gibi çeşitli kaynaklardan yararlanılmıştır.Mutlu Yuva Derneği için ise sayılan kaynakların yanında, yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu da kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada korunma ihtiyacı olan çocuklar için kurulan çocuk evlerine giden süreç, ilk kurumsallaşmaların başladığı 1863 yılından başlanarak günümüze kadar ele alınmış ve Mutlu Yuva Derneği'nin faaliyetleri elde edilen bilgiler ışığında ve sosyal hizmet çerçevesinde anlatılmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu süreç anlatılırken çocuk, sosyal hizmet ve sivil toplum kavramları hakkındaki bilgilerden de bahsedilerek, kurumların ve derneğin; çocukların haklarını bilen vatandaşlar olabilmeleri, kendi ayakları üzerinde durmaları, içerisinde yaşadıkları topluma uyum sağlamaları ve en önemlisi değerli olduklarını hissederek, kendilerini gerçekleştirmelerine nasıl katkılar yaptıkları ortaya konulmuştur. Çocuk evlerine giden süreçte korunma ihtiyacı olan çocuklar için Tanzimat ve Cumhuriyet döneminde kurulan kurumların çocukların biyolojik, psikolojik, sosyal, kültürel, ekonomik ve manevi ihtiyaçlarını karşılama noktasında eksikliklerinin olduğu, çocuk evlerinin kurulması ve bu evlerle ilgili kurulan Mutlu Yuva Derneği'nin ise bu eksikliklerin giderilmesi noktasında oldukça başarılı çalışmalarda bulundukları sonucuna varılmıştır. The aim of this study is to give together the social service institutions opened in the historical process leading to the children's houses model established for children in need of protection, to demonstrate the social service activities of these institutions for the children in need of protection and the activities of Hapy Home Association model for children based on social service. Within the framework of the qualitative research model, a variety of sources such as literature review, journals, articles, internet and archives have been used. In addition to the listed sources, a semi-structured interview form was also used fort he Happy Home Association. In this study, the process leading to the children's houses established for children in need of protection has been discussed starting from the 1863s when the first institutionalization started and the activities of the Happy Home Association were tried to be explained in the light of the information obtained and within the framework of social service. While explaining this process, information about the concepts of children, social services and civil society is mentioned and how the institutions and the association contribute to the realization that children can become a good citizens to the state and nation, stand on their own feet, adapt to the society in which they live, and most importantly, realize themselves while feeling important has been put forward. It is concluded that in the process of going to children's houses for the children in need of protection, the institutions established in the Tanzimat and Republican Era have deficiencies in meeting the biological, psychological, social, cultural, economic and spiritual needs of children, that the establishment of children's houses and the establishment of Happy Home Association related to these houses to eliminate these deficiencies have made quite successful studies.
