Bu tezde, açık teizm (open theism) bağlamında Tanrı'nın önbilgisi ile insan hürriyetinin bağdaşıp bağdaşmadığı problemi ele alınmaktadır. Açık teistler'e göre kısaca, Tanrı'nın önbilgisi ile insanın özgür iradeye sahip olduğu birlikte savunulamaz. Onlara göre insan için açık olan gelecek, Tanrı için de böyledir ve onun mutlak ilmi bu yönüyle sınırlıdır. O, zamanın içindedir, yarattıklarıyla şahsî bir ilişki içerisinde olduğundan dolayı değişir ve etkilenir. İnsan hürriyeti de ancak böyle bir tanrı tasavvuru içerisinde anlamlıdır. Çalışmamızda açık teistlerin bu iddiaları, onların karşısında yer alan bağdaşırcılarla birlikte ele alınmıştır. İlkin açık teizmi daha iyi anlayabilmek adına onun, geleneksel teizmden farkı ortaya konulmuştur. Daha sonra söz konusu problem ile ilgili bağdaşırcı çözümlere, basit önbilgi ve orta bilgi teorilerine, açık teizmin yönelttiği eleştiriler irdelenmiştir. Bu eleştiriler neticesinde açık teistler açısından, insan hürriyeti konusunda daha tutarlı bir tanrı tasavvurunun nasıl olması gerektiği gösterilmeye çalışılmıştır. Sonuç olarak, bağdaşırcı çözümlerin anlamlı bir insan hürriyetini savunmalarının zorluğu farkedilmiş ve açık teistlerin ise bu konuda eleştirilerden uzak bir sistem geliştiremedikleri görülmüştür. This thesis investigates the incompatibility of God's foreknowledge and human freedom in the context of open theism. Open theists simply claim that God's foreknowledge and libertarian free will of human cannot be defended together. According to them, the future is open to God as well as to human beings and God has limited omniscience. God is in time and in personal contact with his creatures. Meaning, he is influenced and open to change as a result of this influence. Only through such conception of God one would make sense of human freedom. In this study, we presented the claims of open theists along with the claims of compatibilists. We initially answered the question of how open theism differs from classical theism in order to get a better sense of the former. Then, we examined open theist critique of the compatibilist replies through the theories of simple foreknowledge and middle knowledge. Hence we tried to figure out open theism's understanding of God which open theists believe to be more coherent when it comes to the question of theological determinism. Eventually, we ended up seeing that compatibilist solutions fail to defend human freedom and observing the reproachable lapses of open theism.
