Bu çalışmada Alexius Meinong'da soyutlama ve soyut genel terimler problemi, Meinong'un doktora tezi olan ?Hume Üzerine İncelemeleri I? metni ışığında etraflıca ele alınmaya çalışılmıştır. Amaç Meinong'un konuya katkılarını irdelemektir. Bu vesileyle konunun tarihsel bir incelemesini de yapmaya çalıştık.İlk olarak temel problemlerden biri olan soyut genel terimler ve soyutlama problemi ana hatlarıyla üç dönem altında incelenmiştir. Birinci dönem, ilk çağ içinde Platon ve Aristoteles'in görüşlerinin yer aldığı dönemdir. İkinci dönem, ortaçağın ilk yarısında Porphyrios ve Roscelinus 'un kurgulamaları; üçüncü dönem ise Locke, Berkeley ve Hume tarafından konunun en yoğun, en güçlü ve en incelikli tartışıldığı 17. yüzyıl sonları ve 18. yüzyıllardır. Daha sonra, Alexius Meinong'un konuyla ilgili tarihsel hesaplaşması ele alınmış ve ?Hume Üzerine İncelemeler I? adlı çalışmasındaki görüşleri irdelenmiştir.Kavramsal düşünmenin ne olduğunu sorgulamak, akıl ve gerçeklik arasındaki ilişkinin kavranması için oldukça önemlidir. Bu sebeple, nominalizmin kuruluşunda önemli bir yere sahip olduğu belirtilen David Hume konusunda görüşlerini sunan, aynı zamanda kendi kuramını yapılandırmaya çalışan Meinong'u incelemek bu bahsettiğimiz ilişkinin kavranmasına bir çıkış olabilecektir.
The problem of abstraction and universals was discussed thoroughly by examining the doctoral dissertation of Alexius Meinong, namely ?Hume Studies?. The purpose is to analyze the contributions of Meinong to the subject. Hereby, the opportunity of throwing a glance at the historical background was resulted from that purpose.The problem of abstraction and universals which is an elementary problem was examined in three periods. The first period is the antiquity when Platon and Aristoteles? views reigned. The second period is the medieval when the reconstructions of the subject by Porphyrios and Roscelinus . And finally the third period is the 17th and 18th centuries when the subject was discussed more deliberate and strong. Then Alexius Meinong?s historical settlement was explained and his views on the subject in his ?Hume Studies I? were examined.To question what is conceptional thinking is pretty important in order to perceive the relation between the mind and the reality. For his reason, to examine Meinong?s theory, who on one hand presents his views on David Hume who it was said has a fundamental role in the foundation of nominalism and on the other hand constitutes his theory, can provide a starting point to figure out the relation in question.
