Kentlerin çarpık yapılaşma, işlev kaybı, sosyal gelişimdeki yetersizlik gibi nedenlerle çöküntüye uğramış bölgelerinde, sosyal, ekonomik, fiziksel ve kültürel değişimlere ayak uydurmak, ortaya çıkan kentsel sorunları gidermek ve yeni ihtiyaçları karşılamak amacıyla kentsel dönüşüm projeleri uygulanmaktadır. Ankara'da Cumhuriyet'in ilan edilmesinin ardından hızlı nüfus artışı nedeniyle konut açığı ortaya çıkmış ve günümüze kadar hızla genişlemiş ve dönüşmüştür. Bu dönüşüm günümüzde çöküntü alanlarının düzenlenmesi şeklinde süregelmektedir. Aktaş Mahallesi de bu örneklerden bir tanesidir. Bu çalışma kapsamında Ankara Aktaş Mahallesi kentsel dönüşüm bağlamında incelenerek mekânsal dönüşümün boyutlarının saptanması amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla Aktaş Mahallesi'nde anket yapılması yöntemiyle kentsel dönüşüm uygulanmadan önceki mekânsal durum ve kentsel dönüşüm uygulandıktan sonraki mekânsal değişimler saptanmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu doğrultuda birinci bölümde tezin amaç, kapsam ve yönteminden, ikinci bölümde kentsel dönüşüm kavramından, üçüncü bölümde Dünyadaki ve Türkiye'deki kentsel dönüşüm örneklerinden, dördüncü bölümde gecekondulaşma sürecinden, beşinci bölümde Ankara Aktaş Mahallesi kentsel dönüşüm projesinden bahsedilmiştir. Altıncı bölümde ise Ankara Aktaş Mahallesi ile ilgili alan çalışması yapılmıştır.
Urban transformation projects are implemented in the underdevoloped areas of the cities because of unplanned construction, loss of function and lack of social development. The aims of these projects are to adapt the pysical & cultural change, resolve the emerging urban problems and meet the new requirements in these regions. After the proclamation of the Republic in Ankara, housing shortage emerged due to the rapid population growth and it is still a major problem nowadays in the depressed areas of Ankara. Aktaş neighborhood was chosen as an example. In the scope of this study, it is aimed to determine the size of the spatial transformation by examining Aktaş in the context of urban transformation. In this purpose, it is tried to determine spatial differences between before and after the urban transformation was applied. Accordingly, the first part includes the purpose, the scope and the methods of this thesis, the second part includes the concept of urban transformation, the third part includes the examples of urban transformation in the world and in Turkey, the fourth part includes squatting process and the fifth part includes the example of Aktaş urban transformation project. Finally, the field work carried out in Ankara Aktas neighborhood is given in the sixth part of the study.
