In this thesis, narrow houses which have appeared due to increasing population and urbanization rate, increasing housing needs and contraction of building spaces in present conditions of Turkey were examined. To give us a direction, firstly, population and then space were examined. After literature review with this viewpoint, the answer of the question that how reducing spaces can be made more livable considering the social structure in reducing spaces have been searched. In narrow houses varying according to user's identity and need, a survey was conducted in order to reach common problem and solution. As a result, functional solutions have been applied depending on the needs changing according to different cultures and different user identities. In this context, when designing such spaces, the designer needs to offer a solution for maximum benefit and needs to find functional solutions to the unused areas in the space and make them more useful. |
