Amaç. Bu çalışmanın amacı; umudu ve benlik saygısını geliştirmeye yönelik yapılandırılmış eğitimin yetiştirme yurdunda kalan ergenlerin umutsuzluk düzeyi, benlik saygısı ve intihar olasılıkları üzerine etkisinin incelenmesidir. Materyal ve Metot. Araştırma tek grupta ön test son test izleme desenli müdahale araştırması olarak yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini Ağrı Aile ve Sosyal Politikalar İl Müdürlüğüne bağlı Erkek Yetiştirme Yurdu? nda kalan çalışmaya katılmaya kabul eden 30 ergen oluşturmuştur. Haftada 2 kez ve toplam 16 oturumdan oluşan grup eğitiminin her bir oturumu, oturum gündemi çerçevesinde belirlenen amaçlar doğrultusunda 60-90 dakika süreyle yetiştirme yurdunun etüt salonlarında gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veriler; Kişisel Bilgi Formu, Beck Umutsuzluk Ölçeği, Rosenberg Benlik Saygısı Ölçeği ve İntihar Olasılığı Ölçeği uygulanarak toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde tekrarlı ölçümlerde varyans analizi kullanılmıştır. Bulgular. Araştırmada grup üyelerinin Beck Umutsuzluk Ölçeği toplam puanları ve alt boyut puanlarının ilk ölçüme göre ikinci ölçüm ve üçüncü ölçümde istatistiksel olarak anlamlı düzeyde düştüğü bulunmuştur (p<0.001). Rosenberg Benlik Saygısı Ölçeği puanlarının ilk ölçüme göre ikinci ölçüm ve üçüncü ölçümde istatistiksel olarak anlamlı düzeyde arttığı bulunmuştur (p<0.001). İntihar Olasılığı Ölçeği toplam puanları ve alt boyut puanlarının da ilk ölçüme göre ikinci ölçüm ve üçüncü ölçümde istatistiksel olarak anlamlı düzeyde düştüğü bulunmuştur (p<0.001). Sonuç. Umudu ve benlik saygısını geliştirmeye yönelik yapılandırılmış eğitim programının, ergenlerin umutsuzluk düzeyleri, intihar olasılıkları ve benlik saygıları üzerine olumlu düzeyde etkisi olduğu bulunmuştur. Aim: The target of this research is; to observe the effects of the structured education related with developing hope and self-esteem on male adolescents? hopelessness, self-esteem and probability of suicide. Material and Method: The research was carried out as a pre-test, post-test, follow-up patterned intervention research on one group. The attendants of the research were the adolescents who stay at male orphanage that is collaborated with Ağrı Family and Social Policies Headquarter. The each session of group education took place with 30 adolescents accepted to attend the study; totally 16 sessions (twice in a week) were carried out at the etude hall of orphanage within the framework of session agenda and in the direction of predetermined aims with durations of 60-90 minutes. Data were collected as; Personal Information Form, Beck Hopelessness Scale, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale and Probability of Suicide Scale. Analysis of variance used at repeated measurements of analysis. Results: The research showed that total points of members in Beck Hopelessness Scale there was a statistical and logical decline between the pre-test, post-test and follow-up (p<0.001). Mean scores of Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale increased significantly in post-test and follow-up (p<0.001). Mean scores of Probability of Suicide Scale of total points and the sub-dimension points decreased significantly in post-test and follow-up (p<0.001). Conclusion: The education structured to develop hope and self-esteem have positive effects on adolescent?s hopelessness level, self-esteem and suicide probabilities.
