Buyids was a Daylam originated dynasty that dominated the Persia region between the years of 934-1056. Imad al-Dawla, Rukn al-Dawla, and Mu'izz al-Dawla who are the founders of the dynasty were initially under the command of regional commanders from Daylam. However, Buyids laid the foundations of their dynasty in Persia by achieving independence as a result of the power struggle they made against Merdâvîj b. Ziyâr. Then, the dynasty took control of several regions in Persia notably as Jibal and Daylam as a result of the wars they entered against the governors of Abbâsîds in the region, Sâmânîds, and other dynasties in Persia. Furthermore, their dynasty was also recognized by the Abbâsîd Caliphate as a result of dominating Baghdad. In this study, in addition to the political activities that Buyids performed in the region from their foundation to the downfall, the social, cultural, and economic status of the regions ruled by the Buyids were discussed as well. |
