SUMMARY Most of the design engineers may not be expertised in computer usage. They naturally would prefer user friendly computer interfaces to complicated ones covering combursome procedures. Especially during the last decade, software technology has developed new approaches on user friendly programing, in which an efficient one is the Graphical User Interface (GUI). In this work, we have tried to develope a GUI for chemical process simulation in the name of GraPro. GraPro could be a usefull package for creating process symbols, drawing diagrams, and preparing reports. In this work the following topics were covered. In Chapter 1, historical evolution of computer graphics, CADD and GUI were presented. Chapter 2 investigated the materials and methods. Chapter 3 analysed the requirements for the chemical process simulation structures, the design GUI, the loop structures of GraPro, and functions of sub and side programs. In Chapter 4, chemical process simulation approaches and algorirms that used in this work were presented. mIn Chapter 5, an example of process simulation was illustrated using GraPro. Appendix 1 was prepared as GraPro User's Handbook. Appendix 2 includes GraPro's source code and executable files on floppy disks. At the end, a usefull package for chemical engineering students and design engineers was developed. IV |
