| IV öz SEXTUS EMPIRICUS'UN ÖLÇÜT SORUNU Öymen, orsan K. Doktora, Felsefe Bölümü Tez Yöneticisi: Prof. Dr. Ahmet İnam Mart 1999, 159 sayfa Sextus Empiricus'un kuşkucu felsefesi, onun sunduğu biçimdeki Ölçüt Sorunu'nun, bütün inançların ortadan kaldırılması anlamına gelmediğini ortaya koyuyor, ölçüt Sorunu reddedilmeden inançlara sahip olmak olanaklıdır. Ancak hem bu epistemik görüşü daha güçlü temeller üzerine oturtmak, hem de Sextus'un etik anlayışından kaynaklanan önemli eksikliklerden kaçınmak için, kuşkuculuğu öznel bir inanç anlayışı ile destekleyecek yeni epistemik ve etik yaklaşımların geliştirilmesi gerekiyor. | Ill ABSTRACT SEXTUS EMPIRICUS' PROBLEM OF CRITERION Öymen, Orsan K. Ph. D., Department of Philosophy Supervisor Prof. Dr. Ahmet İnam March 1999, 159 pages The sceptical philosophy of Sextus Empiricus demonstrates that the Problem of Criterion, as presented by him, does not result in an eradication of all belief. It is possible to hold beliefs without a rejection of the Problem of Criterion. However both in order to construct this epistemic position on a stronger base and in order to avoid important insufficiencies deriving from Sextus' understanding of ethics, new epistemic and ethical approaches need to be developed, which would supplement Sextus' scepticism with a subjectivist understanding of belief.
