Romanın kurmaca dünyası gerçek dünyadan izler taşır, ancak kendine özgü yeni bir tasarıma sahiptir. Gerçek dünyada yaşanan pek çok sosyal ve siyasal olay romanın konusunu oluşturabilir. Türk romanı da ilk örneklerinden itibaren tanığı olduğu siyasal ve sosyal olaylara karşı kayıtsız kalmamıştır. Romancılar, on dokuzuncu yüzyılın toplumsal çelişkilerini, yirminci yüzyılın siyasal çalkantılarınI, bunların getirdiği yeni tecrübeleri ve kısa sayılabilecek aralıklarla gerçekleşen üç askerî darbe gibi, ülke ve toplum üzerinde önemli etkileri olan gelişmeleri çeşitli yönleriyle eserlerinde kurgulamışlardır. Bu çalışmada, yakın tarihimizin siyasî yaşamını derinden etkileyen 12 Eylül 1980 Askerî Darbesinin romanlara tematik açıdan nasıl yansıdığı ele alınmış; darbenin siyaset, toplum ve birey üzerindeki etkileri karşılaştırmalı ve analatik bir bakışla saptanmaya çalışılmıştır.
The novel's fictional world carries traces from the real world, but has its own distinctive new take. The subject of novels can be formed by many social and political events of the the real world. Turkish novels have not been oblivious to the political and social events that they have witnessed either. The novelists constructed the 19th century's social contradictions, 20th century's political turmoil, the three military coups that took place in relatively short intervals and the significant impacts of various aspects of developments in the country and the society. In this study, the military coup of the 12th September 1980 - which deeply affected the political life of our recent history - is reflected in the novels in terms of the thematic point of view that is discussed. Its effect on politics, society and the personal have been explored using a comparative and analytical approach.
