The study was conducted at Ç.Ü. Agriculture Faculty, Agricultural Structures andIrrigation Departments Experimental Field at 2005, and ARMA maize variety was sed.Three different irrigation treatments (I40-I60-I80) were considered in this study. Intreatment I40, irrigation water was applied when 40% available soil water content in the 90cm soil profile was depleted. In I60 and I80 treatments, irrigation was applied when 60 and80% of available water in 90 cm soil profile was depleted respectively. Deficit water wasreplenished to field capacity in all treatments. Highest FSKE of 142.3 mmol H2O m-2s-1, wasobtained in I60; minimum FSKE of 125.3 mmol H2O m-2s-1, was estimated in I80 treatmentplots. Biomass increased with irrigation frequency (I40>I60>I80). Corn grain yields were notsignificantly different among the treatments. However, there was a trend of higher yield infrequently irrigated treatment in the order of I40, I60 and I80. The effect of irrigationtreatments on investigated leaf characteristics are not significantly different.Key Words : Maize, irrigation, LAI, net photosynthesis, chlorophyll, biomass. |
