Phryg'ler, özellikle Phrygia Bölgesi'nin daglık kısmında, kayaya görkemlianıtlar ve oda mezarlar oymuslardır. Kayaya mezar oyma gelenegi bölgedeHellenistik, Roma mparatorluk ve Geç Antik dönemlerde de devam etmistir.Özellikle Roma mparatorluk Dönemi'nde, Daglık Phrygia'da bir çok kaya mezarıoyulmus veya daha erken oygular yeniden düzenlenmistir. Bu arastırmada,bölgede söz konusu dönemlerde oyulmus kaya mezarlarının saptanması veüzerlerinde belgeleme çalısmalarının yapılarak mezar tiplerinin belirlenmesiamaçlanmıstır. Saptanan ve sınıflandırılan mezar tiplerinin özellikle Anadolu'dakibenzerleriyle karsılastırılmasıyla, ölü gömme gelenekleri içindeki konumunun vebenzerleriyle olan etkilesimlerinin de ortaya konulmasına çalısılmıstır. Doktoratezinde, saptanması amaçlanmıs diger bir husus da, mezarların kayaya oyulmusPhryg anıtları ve oda mezarlarının etkisini tasıyıp tasımadıklarıdır.
The Phrygians, especially in the highlands of Phrygia, carved splendidmonuments and chamber tombs. The tradition of carving rock-cut tombs in thearea continued through Hellenistic, Roman Imperial and Late Antiquity periods.Especially in the Roman Imperial Period, in the highlands of Phrygia, many rockcuttombs were carved and early engraved ones were renewed. In this research, theaim is to identify the types of tombs by defining the rock-cut tombs,documentation studies upon them within the mentioned periods in the area. Withascertaination and classification of the tombs comparison to the similar examplesespecially in Anatolia, the position within the burial traditions and interactions tothe similar ones, were studied. Another fact aimed to stated in this Ph.D. thesis isthat if the rock-cut tombs carry the influence of Phrygians rock monuments andchamber tombs .
