Vibration-based structural health monitoring (SHM) methods extracts structural features by using dynamic data obtained in-situ tests, and reveals state of health of the monitored structure. Since they are nondestructive methods, they are very convenient and attractive to use for structures under service. The main purpose of the proposed project is to apply finite element model updating based structural health monitoring technique to the 199+325 railroad steel truss bridge on the route of Basmane-Dumlupinar which is under service for more than a century. Application of this technique will fill up the critical gaps of visual inspection techniques and improve the periodic bridge controls in terms of determining hidden damages. In this study ambient vibration data were collected for three different seasonal conditons and modal parameter of the bridge were identified. Finite element model of the bridge was updated considering the dynamic data of the bridge. 17 bridge modes were identified and the modal properties of the bridge can be considered temperature-invariant due to the small variations in frequency estimations. In addition a modal parameter database related to the bridge were constituted to be used a benchmark model for comparison purposes in case of future possible natural events.
