Depresyon görülme sıklığı ve hayatın her alanına etki etmesi yönüyle en önemli ruhsal bozukluklar arasında yer almaktadır. Günümüzde görülme sıklığı her geçen gün artan depresyonun birçok nedeni bulunmaktadır. Genetik, biyolojik ve psikososyal etmenler depresyonun görülmesinde etkili olan faktörlerdir. Varoluş ise felsefe tarihi boyunca önem taşıyan ve her tülü felsefe konusunun merkezinde bulunan bir kavram olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. İnsanın kendi varlığını, neden var olduğunu sorgulamasıyla önem taşımaktadır. Yapılan bu çalışmada varoluşçu bakışa göre hayatın anlamı ve amacının depresyon ve umutsuzlukla ilişkisini incelemek amaçlanmıştır. Varoluş kavramı içerisinde işlenen varoluş problemlerinin depresyon için bir alt temel oluşturduğu düşünülmüştür. Çalışmaya şuanda tanısı konmuş herhangi bir psikiyatrik hastalığı olmayan, iletişim kurmayı engelleyecek zihinsel ve fiziksel bir engeli olmayan random yöntemle seçilen 150 kişi katılmıştır. Çalışmaya katılan her kişiden Beck Depresyon Ölçeği, Beck Umutsuzluk Ölçeği ve Hayatın Anlamı ve Amacı Ölçeklerinin doldurulması istenmiştir. Elde edilen bulgular sonucunda hayatın anlamı ve amacının depresyon ve umutsuzluk ile arasında anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Bulguların önemi diğer araştırmalardan yola çıkarak tartışılmış ve sonraki araştırmalara öneriler sağlamıştır.
Depression due to the frequency of occurence and it affect every part of life, it takes very important place and mental disorder Nowadays, there are many reasons of depression that its frequence occurence increase day by day. Genetic, biological and pschosicial factors are the reasons that cause seeing of depression and the existence is a concept that faced in evety step of philosoph's history and in the center of every philosophycal topic The existence eof human being became significant by questioning the reason of existence of human being itsel. İn this study, according to the existential meaning and purpose of life was to examine the relationship between depression and despair perspective. İt was thought that existence problems which studied under exictence consept cause subbase for depression. Approximately 150 people were enrolled in the study, equipped with a mental and physical random method without a psychiatric diagnosis. In our study, Beck Depression Scale, Beck Hopelessness Scale and Meaning of Life and Purpose Scales were required. As a result of the findings it was found a significant relationship between depression and hopelessnes of life's meaning and purpose. The emergence of findings from other sexual surveys has been debated and provided recommendations for further research.
