Türk edebiyatında Garip kuşağı şairlerinin; dönemin toplumsal, ekonomik ve düşünsel durumunu yansıtmalarındaki sadelikleri ve halka yakın duruşları, şiirlerinde bunu dile getirmeleri göz önünde bulundurulduğunda; o dönem tüm dünyayı etkisi altına alan, geliştiren ve dönüştüren sanat ve edebiyat akımları içerisinde, ön plana çıkan ve belli bir dönem şiirde çok etkin olan Fransız gerçeküstücülüğüne yakınlıklarının incelenmesi gereği ortaya çıkmaktadır.Bugüne kadar, Fransız gerçeküstücü şairlerden Jacques Prévert ve şiiriyle Garip şiiri arasında kimi yakınlıklar kurulmuş olmasına karşın, konuyu belirli bir bütünlük açısından inceleyen akademik çalışmalar çok sınırlıdır. Karşılaştırmalı Edebiyat bilimi böyle bir çalışmanın gerçekleştirilmesine olanak sağlamaktadır.Karşılaştırmalı bir temelde, metin ve olgular düzeyinde, eleştirel ve yorumlayıcı bir yaklaşımla ele alınmış olan bu çalışmada çoğulcu yöntem benimsenmiştir. Bu karşılaştırmalı çalışma sonucunda, Garip hareketi şairleri ? Orhan Veli Kanık, Oktay Rıfat Horozcu, Melih Cevdet Anday ? ile Jacques Prévert'in, dünya görüşleri ve şiir anlayışları bağlamında birçok ortaklık ve benzerlikler taşıdıkları saptanmıştır.
When we take into consideration the way the poets of the ?Garip? movement reflected the social, economical and intellectual status of the period, the way they stood close to the public and the way they expressed these elements in their poems; it seems necessary to examine the similarities of this movement to the French Surrealism that was very effective on poetry for a specific period of time and which was prominent when compared with the art and literary movement that took hold of the whole world and even developed and changed the world.Although some similarities have been observed with the poetry of the French surrealist poet Jacques Prévert and the poetry ?Garip?, the academic studies that examines this subject holistically is very limited. The science of Comparative Literature however, provides us with an opportunity to carry out such a study.In this study, a critical and interpretative approach on textual and factual levels based on comparative grounds has been adopted. The result of this study - compared by means of pluralist analysing method - has indicated that there are lots of common elements and similarities between the poets of the ?Garip? movement ? Orhan Veli Kanık, Oktay Rıfat Horozcu, Melih Cevdet Anday ? and Jacques Prévert, regarding their world view and conception of poetry.
