102 8. SUMMARY Güroymak is one of the six towns of Bitlis province. The town was situated on the 22nd km of Tatvan-Mus main road sides. It is a place worth seeing its natural beauties and curative water springs. On the other hand, the historical cemeteries it has, have importance for art history and history science. By visiting the town, The Dome, Sheikh Mohammed cemetery and Red Martyrs (Kırmızı Şehitler) cemetery have been investigated and thirty three graves from them have been taken in the catalogue part. The earliest of them blonged to 13th century and the latest one to 19th century. The grave stones which were constructed between these centuries which means 600 years long time have a rich view due to their ornaments. The common characteristic of these stones is to carry the decorative art tradition of Seljuks. Even though there are many grave stones, the number of the stones epitaphs of which have been read so for are so less. It means that these stones will completely be destroyed in the future and lose their value. If saving attempts are started or them on time. Many important knowledge will be had, from these stones, about the sheikh, Emir families lived in Güroymak once. It is hoped that before the stones are fully ruined an archaeological excavation work should be started an some important samples are taken under protection in a, museum.
