Bu tez çalışmasında, 2000 yılı sonrası Türkiye'sinde güncel sanatın ekoloji mücadelesi ile ilişkisi incelenmektedir. Temel amaç, Türkiye'de son yirmi yılda özellikle kentte verilen ekoloji mücadelesinin güncel sanatta hangi yöntem ve yaklaşımlarla ele alındığını sanat üretimleri üzerinden değerlendirmektir. Bu bağlamda, çalışmanın ilk bölümünde çevrecilik ve farklı ekoloji yaklaşımlarının tanımlaması yapılmakta, ikinci bölümde ise 2000 yılı sonrası Türkiye'de kentteki ekoloji mücadelelerinin süreçlerine odaklanılmaktadır. Tezin üçüncü bölümde ekoloji ve sanat ilişkisinin tarihsel sürecine değinilmektedir. Sonrasında Türkiye'de güncel sanatın gelişim süreci, 1990 yılından itibaren konusu haline gelen politik meseleler, alanın sosyal bilimlerle ilişkilenmesi, disiplinler arasılık, kolektif üretimler ve toplumsal mücadelelerle ilişkilenme biçimleri üzerinden ele alınmıştır. Dördüncü bölümde Türkiye'de süregelen ekoloji mücadeleleriyle ilişkilenen güncel sanat üretimleri, mücadeleyle ilişkilenme biçimlerine göre üç farklı kategoride incelenmiştir: Ekoloji mücadelesinin mekânını bir deneyim alanı olarak kurgulayan, mekâna müdahale ederek bağlamını değiştiren ya da mekânı temsil olarak kurgulayan üretimler "Mekân: Performans, Müdahale, Temsil" başlığı altında; ekoloji mücadelesinin hafızasını korumak amaçlı arşiv ve sözlü tarih niteliği taşıyan üretimler "Zaman: Arşiv, Sözlü Tarih, Bellek" başlığı altında ve bizzat protesto ve gösteri niteliği taşıyan üretimler "Eylem: Protesto, Gösteri" başlığı altında tartışılmıştır.
This thesis examines the relations between ecology struggle and contemporary arts in Turkey after the year 2000. The main objective is to interpret the methods and approaches used to tackle the –especially urban– ecological struggle in Turkey in the last two decades through works of art. In this context, the first chapter defines environmentalism and the different ecological approaches, and the second chapter focuses on the processes of ecological struggle experienced in Turkey's urban areas after the year 2000. The third chapter addresses the historical process of the relations between ecology and art. Thereafter, the progressive process of contemporary art in Turkey is discussed in terms of the political issues that became a subject matter for visual arts since 1990, the association of the field with social sciences, its interdisciplinary properties, forms of collective production, and its association with social struggles. The fourth chapter examines the visual artworks related to the ongoing ecological struggles in Turkey in three different categories according to their form of relation: the artworks that construct the space of the ecology struggle as an area of experience, change the context by intervening in the space or construct the space as a representation are under the title of "Space: Performance, Intervention, Representation"; which have the characteristics of archives and oral history in order to preserve the memory of the ecology struggle are discussed under the title of "Time: Archive, Oral History, Memory" ve and the productions that have the characteristics of protest and demonstration themselves are discussed under the title "Action: Protest, Demonstration".
