Bu yüksek lisans tezinde İletişimsel Yaklaşım ile konuşma becerisinin öğretimi konusu ele alınmıştır.Birinci bölümde, çalışmanın amacı ve kapsamı açıklanmış, araştırmanın gerçekte ne hedeflediği araştırma sorularının yardımı ile ifade edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Bu çalışmanın amacı bir dil öğretim kurumunun İletişimsel Yaklaşım ile konuşma becerisinin öğretimine yönelik uygulamalarında oluşabilecek eksikliklere ve bu eksikliklerin nasıl giderilebileceğine bir örneklemden yola çıkarak açıklama getirmektir. Bu amaca ulaşmak için konuşma becerisi dersini veren okutmanların görüşlerini ve öğrenicilerin konuşma becerilerinin iletişimsel açıdan istenilen düzeye getirilip getirilemediğini sorgulayan iki ayrı araştırma sorusu hazırlanmıştır.İkinci bölümde, İletişimsel Yaklaşım kapsamlı bir şekilde ele alınarak bu yaklaşımın konuşma becerisinin öğretimine ilişkin ilkeleri irdelenmiştir.Üçüncü bölümde, çalışmanın evreni ve örneklemi açıklanmıştır ve bu bölümde, araştırmanın hangi yöntemlerle sürdürüleceğine ilişkin bilgilere yer verilmiştir. Araştırma niteliksel araştırma modeline uygun bir şekilde yürütülmüştür. Araştırmanın evrenini ülkemizde yabancı dil eğitimi sunan kurumlar oluşturmaktadır. Örneklemini ise TOBB Ekonomi ve Teknoloji Üniversitesi Hazırlık Bölümünde 2006?2007 Eğitim Öğretim yılında eğitim görmüş 12 başlangıç seviyesi öğrencisi ve ?konuşma? dersi vermiş olan 10 İngilizce öğretmeni oluşturmaktadır. Okutmanlara konuşma dersi ile ilgili anket uygulanmış, öğrencilerin ise son konuşma sınavları videoya kaydedilmiştir.Dördüncü bölümde, araştırmanın temelini oluşturan bulgular analiz edilmiştir. Okutman anketleri SPSS programından faydalanılarak analiz edilmiş, öğrenci video kayıtları ise önceden belirlenmiş ölçütlere göre incelenmiştir.Beşinci bölümde ise elde edilen bulgular yorumlanmıştır. Okutman görüşlerinin bazı noktalarda İletişimsel Yaklaşım ile paralellik gösterdiği, bazı noktalarda ise bu paralelliğin ortadan kalktığı belirlenmiştir. Öğrencilerin konuşma becerilerinin sesletim açısından yeterli düzeye getirildiği ancak diğer konuşma becerisi bileşenlerinin eksik kaldığı belirlenmiştir.
In this master?s thesis, the subject about the teaching of speaking skill through Communicative Approach is mentioned.In the first chapter, the aim and the scope of the study are explained and it is tried to make the real target of the study understandable through the research questions. The aim of this study is to provide an explanation for the possible deficiencies that can appear during the practices of speaking skill and to present some solutions to these deficiencies by studying with an experimental group. To attain this aim, two different research questions have been prepared; one of them tries to determine the opinions of the instructors responsible for the speaking lessons about Communicative Approach and the other one intends to find whether the students? speaking skill has come to the adequate communicative level or not.In the second chapter, Communicative Approach is explained and the principles of this approach related to the teaching of speaking skill are considered in details.In the third chapter, the subjects and the methods of this study are explained. This is a qualitative research and it is for all language schools in our country. The experimental group of this study consists of 12 elementary level TOBB Economics and Technology University Preparatory School students of 2006-2007 Academic Year and 10 instructors of this university. A questionnaire about speaking lessons has been given to the instructors and the last speaking exams of the students have been recorded.The fourth chapter includes data analysis. The questionnaire given to the instructors have been analyzed through SPSS programme and the video records of the students have been analyzed according to the criteria having been prepared before.In the fifth chapter, the data is discussed. It has been found that some opinions of the instructors are parallel with the principles of Communicative Approach, but at some points parallelism disappears and the pronunciation of the students is at the adequate level; however the other components of the speaking skill have not been fully acquired by the students.
