The aim of this study is to evaluate the skills of surgical nurses working in the operating room of Selçuk University Medical Faculty, about using surgical technological devices in the OR. For this purpose, a 20-question questionnaire developed by the researcher is used.
Today, surgical operations using technological devices are improving day by day and they are always renewing themselves. In this direction, it is necessary to keep up with the innovations. Since nurses who have started their new job in hospital operating rooms don't adapt to the system right away, first, the nurses join the team as a secondary scrub nurse and the nurse who has been decided to have learned effectively in the trial period, actively participates in the operation team under the supervision of experienced specialist nurses. Learning is carried out through master-apprentice relationship. Since technical information is needed for the use of technological devices, it is necessary to provide technical support training and it is needed to be provided in a training framework rather than the master-apprentice model.
Since there are more than one department in operating rooms, there are surgical technological devices special to every department. This requires the use of different surgical technological devices. In the rotational shiftwork, in case of working in another surgical room than the department one normally works, and in the case of encountering different surgical technological devices, there is a need for knowledge and skill about the use of the devices. Looking at recent developments and advances in medicine, surgical specialists as well as surgical nurses will play a big role. For this reason, it is essential to provide advanced training to surgical nurses in order to keep up with the new technologies and to increase the current knowledge, and it is recommended to support the reliability of this result with more detailed and more comprehensive studies. |
