Bu çalışmada, 1946-1980 yılları arasında Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi bünyesinde meydana gelen gelişmelerin ve değişimlerin seyri ele alınmıştır. CHP üzerine bir çalışma, aynı zamanda Cumhuriyet tarihini de içinde barındıran bir süreç olması sebebiyle, sosyal bilimciler, gazeteciler ve bağımsız araştırmacılar tarafından dikkat çekici bir özelliğe sahiptir. Tek parti dönemi başta olmak üzere konuya ilişkin pek çok araştırma ve kaynak literatürde mevcuttur. Konu üzerinde geniş bir araştırma/yayın bulunmasına karşılık, belirtilen tarihler arası dönemi bir bütün olarak ele alma çabasıyla yola çıkılmıştır. Konuyu siyasal tarih içerisinde sosyolojik temelleri ile birlikte inceleyerek, CHP'nin dönemsel farklılıklar içerisinde gösterdiği değişim/dönüşüm seyri araştırmanın başlıca problemidir.1946 sonrasında çok partili siyasi sisteme geçilmesiyle birlikte, CHP bünyesinde tek parti döneminden ayrılış ve farklılaşmalar göze çarpmaktadır. CHP, Demokrat Parti'nin siyaset sahnesine çıkmasıyla birlikte kendisini tanımlama ihtiyacı hissetmiş ve siyasi alan içerinde yeni bir konum edinmeye çaba göstermiştir. CHP'deki değişimin ilk seyri, 1946-1950 arası dönemde çok partili siyasal sisteme ayak uydurma çabaları içinde şekillenmiştir. 27 yıllık tek parti iktidarından sonra 1950 seçimleri ve DP'nin iktidara gelişi ile başlayan muhalefet partisi konumu, 1960 sonrası oluşacak yeni CHP'nin özelliklerini içinde barındıran süreç olması açısından önemlidir. Parti'nin kendisini tanımladığı biçimiyle demokratik sol bir partiye evirildiği 1970 sonrası dönem, 1960-1970 arasında bu yönelişin ilk aşamasını oluşturan ortanın solu tartışmaları içinde biçimlenmiştir. Çalışmamızda, her biri birbiriyle bağlantılı ve sürekli ilişkiye sahip olan değişimin ve dönüşümün seyri tarihsel sosyolojik bir bakış açısı ile ele alınmıştır.
In this study, the developments and changes that occur within the course of the Republican People's Party (henceforth, RPP) between the years 1946 and 1980 have been discussed. A study on the RPP is salient for social scientists, journalists and independent researchers since it comprises the process including the history of the Republic. There is a great number of researches and resources on the subject, particularly one-party period, in the literature. Although there are extensive researches and publications on the issue, there has been an effort to address the period between the specified dates as a whole. The main concern of this study is to examine the change / transformation course that the RPP displays in seasonal differences within the political history with its sociological basis.With the transition to a multi-party political system after 1946, separation from one-party period and differentiation within the RPP have become conspicuous. When the Democratic Party (henceforth, DP) emerges on the political stage, the RPP needs to define itself and tries to obtain a new place within the political sphere. The first course of the change in the RPP has been shaped during the period between 1946 and1950 in efforts to adapt itself to a multi-party political system. The elections in 1950 after one-party government lasting for 27 years and the opposition party position starting with the DP coming into power constitute an important process due to the fact that it includes the properties of the new RPP after 1960. The period after 1970, the time period that the RPP claims they evolved into a democratic left party, has been shaped by the discussions of being `left-of-center? which constitutes the first phase of this orientation. In this study, the course of change and transformation which is inter-related with each other and has ongoing relationship has been analyzed with a historical sociological perspective.
