The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the effect of Balabanlı Wind Power Plant, where is located at Çorlu district in Tekirdağ province, on the migratory movements of soaring migrant birds. A total of 36-day long field work were carried out in the Balabanlı WPP area and its surroundings during the autumn and spring 2020 migration periods. As a result, a total of 118 bird species belonging to 37 families from 15 ordos were detected. Twenty of these species were soaring migrant birds.
As a result of our study, a total of 1048 individuals in 269 passing belonging to 20 soaring migrant birds species were identified. It has been determined that during the passage of these species from the area, flights occurred at an average height of 105 m (0-500) and 214 m (10-1500) away from the nearest turbine spot the man flight height was Griffon Vulture's only 5 individuals in 1 flight during the autumn migration period. were observed Throughout the study period, white stork was the most numereous species with 722 individuals in 9 passing, while a single individual of Northern or Hen Harrier, Eurasian Hobby and European Honey-buzzard were observed in one passing. As a result of the monitoring carried out in the study area and its surroundings, it was determined that the that migrant birds species were in the areas where the RES area was established. Of the 269 pssing in the WPP area, 11 (4%) were in the rotoe swept area and 258 (96%) were passed from non-risky areas. Five different thermals orgathering points and 4 different flight paths over and around the wind farm project site were identified. As a result of under turbine carcass search activities performed during field studies, no dead or injured individuals due to collision to turbine were encountered. |
