İkinci Yeni'nin öncü şairlerinden Cemal Süreya, hem şiiriyle hem poetik yazılarıyla bu hareketin merkezinde yer almış bir şairdir. Bunun yanı sıra deneme-eleştiri ve dergi faaliyetleriyle de ün yapmış bir isimdir. Böylelikle o, şair kimliğine entelektüel bir kimliği de ekleyerek şiirleri ve fikirleriyle bugün modern Türk şiiri içerisinde güncelliğini kaybetmeyen bir şair olmuştur.İlk şiir kitabı Üvercinka'yla, İkinci Yeni şiiri üzerine söylenilen ?anlamsız?, ?soyut?, ?kapalı?, ?okurdan uzak? söylemlerini bir kenara iterek, yeni bir anlam ve yeni bir ses oluşturduğunun haberini vererek hareketin uzağında, ancak mevcut olan dille yetinmemesi ve kabul gören gerçeklere karşı çıkmasıyla da İkinci Yeni şiirinin içinde yer almıştır. Özgün imgesel anlatımı, şaşırtıcı ve ironik söylemi, tarih ve kültürle şekillenen bakışı, onun şiirini hareket içinde farklı bir konuma taşımıştır. Bilhassa göndermede bulunduğu isimler ve olaylar; küçüklükten itibaren aldığı eğitimi, yetişme şartını, bulunduğu muhiti ve kültürel donanımını gösteren ayraçlardır. Şiirindeki biçim kadar, yer verdiği temalar da dikkat çekicidir. Başta cinsel aşk olmak üzere kent, coğrafya, tarih, politika gibi temalar değişik ve etkileyici bir anlatımla işlenmiştir.Şiirinde, gerek temada, gerek biçimde bir ikiliği görmek mümkündür. Gelenekselle modernizmi, güncelle tarihi, bireyselle toplumsallığı, gündelik konuşmayla imgesel bir söyleyişi bir arada vererek, modern Türk şiiri içerisinde farklı bir duruş yakalayarak, kendi tabiriyle ?cins şair? olmayı başarmıştır. İnsana ait ne varsa şiire taşınması gerektiğini düşünen şair, biçim ve temayla modern bir şiir yazdığını göstermiştir. Cemal Süreya, who was one of the forerunner poets of Second New, is a poet took place in the centre of this movement both with his poem and poetic writings. Beside this; he also made name with his essay-critical and magazine activities. Herewith, by extending his poet identity with his intellectual identity; he became a poet in today?s modern Turkish Poem without losing his actuality.With his first poem book Üvercinka he pushed the statements aside about Second New poem like ?meaningless?, ?abstract?, ?closed?, ?away from reader? and so he took a place in the Second New poem by staying out of the movement by announcing that he established a new meaning and a new sound but also by being not satisfied with the current language and by being against accepted truths. His original imaginative expression, amazing and ironic discourse, his view shaped with history and culture carried his poem in a different place in the movement. Especially the names and events he referred to are brackets that show education that he took since his childhood, his upbringing, his environment, his cultural background. As much as the form in his poem, theme in his poem are also attractive. Notably sexual love and different themes like city, geography, history and politics were treated in a different and attractive expression.It is possible to see a duality in his poem both in theme and in form. As giving traditional with modernism, up-to-date with history, individual with social, daily speech with imaginary discourse together, he caught a different stand in modern Turkish poem and he achieved to be ?weird poet? in his own expression. The poet, who believes that anything belonging to human should be carried to poem, showed that he wrote a modern poem with form and theme. He is a poet who is curiously followed both in the past and today and assured his place in Turkish poem history.Key Words: Cemal Süreya, poem, Second New, modernism.
