The objective of this study is to develop a new methodology to decide the most appropriate multiple point tanker-buoy mooring configuration for the gas companies situated on the Eastern Marmara Sea Region in Turkey. Due to the vague and fuzzy nature of this problem, the proposed methodology is based on Fuzzy Set Theory. This methodology is based on fuzzy AHP method in analyzing the structure of the mooring system selection problem and determining of the weights of the attributes, and on fuzzy TOPSIS method for ranking and selecting the mooring systems. In addition to this study, a new reliability and risk analysis methodology is also improved for spread mooring systems, these systems? top-event, and sub-event components. These proposed methodologies used for selection, reliability and risk analysis problems have very versatile and flexible structure. Therefore, they can easily be used and applied with slight modifications in many selection processes or reliability and risk analysis problems in marine industry.
