Bu çalışmanın dört amacı vardır. Birincisi, hizmet öncesi psikolojik danışmanlarıntemel cinsel bilgi kaynaklarını anlamak; ikincisi, cinsellikle ilgili konulardadanışanlara bilgi vermede algıladıkları yeterlik düzeylerini saptamak; üçüncüsü,cinsellikle ilgili en fazla bilgiye ihtiyaç duyulan alanları belirlemek ve son olarakcinselliğe yönelik tutumlarını değerlendirmektir. Bu çalışmada, Demografik BilgiFormu, Cinsel Bilgi Formu ile Ergenler için Cinsel Bilgi ve Tutum Ölçeğinin TürkçeFormu (SKAT-A) - Tutum Bölümü veri toplama aracı olarak kullanılmıştır.Araştırmanın verileri, Ankara ilindeki üç devlet üniversitesinin psikolojikdanışmanlık ve rehberlik lisans programında öğrenim gören 552 öğrencidentoplanmıştır.Araştırmanın bulguları, hizmet-öncesi psikolojik danışmanların cinsellikle ilgilikonularda temel bilgi kaynaklarının anne ve akranlar olduğunu göstermiştir. Ayrıca,okul/öğretmen, eğitim materyalleri ve TV/sinema nispeten cinsellikle ilgili birkaçkonuda başvurulan önemli bilgi kaynaklarıdır. Buna ek olarak, kız ve erkek hizmet-öncesi psikolojik danışmanların sınıf düzeyi arttıkça yeterlik düzeylerinin arttığısaptanmıştır. Kızların büyük çoğunluğunun cinsel etkinlikler konusunda, erkeklerinbüyük çoğunluğunun ise toplum, kültür ve cinsellik konusunda en fazla bilgiyeihtiyaç duydukları belirlenmiştir. MANOVA sonuçları birinci ve ikinci sınıföğrencilerinin mastürbasyon, geleneksel ahlâk ve homoseksüalite tutumlarınınüçüncü ve dördüncü sınıflar ile karşılaştırıldığında daha muhafazakâr olduğunu işaretetmektedir. Bunun yanı sıra bulgular, kız hizmet-öncesi psikolojik danışmanların,erkeklere göre daha liberal homoseksüalite tutumlarına sahip olduklarını göstermiştir.Sonuçlar mastürbasyon, geleneksel ahlâk, pornografi ve homoseksüalite tutumlarınıncinsiyet ve anne eğitim düzeyi ile cinsiyet ve baba eğitim düzeyine görefarklılaşmadığını ortaya koymuştur. Son olarak, daha önce cinsellikle ilgili eğitimalan hizmet-öncesi psikolojik danışmanların eğitim almayanlara göre daha liberalmastürbasyon, geleneksel ahlâk ve homoseksüalite tutumuna sahip olduklarıbulunmuştur.Anahtar Kelimeler: Cinsel Bilgi Kaynağı, Yeterlik Düzeyi, Bilgi İhtiyaçları, CinselTutum
The purpose of the present study was fourfold: First, to understand pre-servicecounselors? primary sources of sexuality information; second, to examine pre-servicecounselors? perceived competence level of providing sexuality related information totheir clients; third, to identify pre-service counselors? need to obtain moreinformation on sexuality related topics, and finally, to assess pre-service counselors?attitudes toward sexuality. Demographic Data Form, Sexuality Information Form,and Turkish version of the Sexual Knowledge and Attitude Test for Adolescents(SKAT-A) - Attitude Section were used as the data collection instuments. The datawere gathered from 552 undergraduate students, recruited from three Stateuniversities that offer Psychological Counseling and Guidance undergraduateprogram in Ankara, Turkey.The results of the study revealed that mothers and peers were cited as the primarysources by pre-service counselors. School/teacher, educational materials, andTV/movie were also mentioned as the important sources of information in relativelya few sexuality related topics. Moreover, female and male pre-service schoolcounselors? perceived competence level of providing information to their clients washigher among students who are about to finish their education compared to those whoare at first or second year of his/her education in many sexuality topics. The findingsalso yielded that the majority of the females primarily need more informationregarding sexual activities, whereas the majority of the males mainly need moreinformation regarding society, culture, and sexuality. The results of MANOVAdemonstrated that freshman and sophomore students reported more conservativemasturbation, conventional morality, and homosexuality attitudes in comparison witheither of the junior and senior students. Furthermore, female pre-service counselorsheld more liberal homosexuality attitudes than male pre-service counselors. Theresults indicated no significant differences with respect to gender and mothereducation as well as gender and father education of pre-service counselors and theirmasturbation, conventional morality, pornography, and homosexuality attitudes.Additionally, results showed that pre-service counselors who received previoussexuality education endorsed more liberal masturbation, conventional morality, andhomosexuality attitudes as compared with pre-service counselors who did not receiveany education.Keywords: Sources of Sexuality Information, Perceived Competence, Needs toObtain Information, Sexual Attitude
