Küreselleşme süreci ile birlikte bilim ve teknoloji alanında yaşanan gelişmeler, 21. yy.da hayatın hemen her alanının yeniden şekillenmesine neden olmuştur. Bu süreçte bilgi, toplumların sahip olduğu en büyük değer olarak ön plana çıkmaktadır. Bilgi toplumlarının inşasında en büyük sorumluluk yükseköğretim kurumlarına düşerken, bu sorumluluk Avrupa'daki yükseköğretim sistemlerinin toplumun gelecekteki beklentilerine cevap verebilecek şekilde yeniden düzenlenmesini gerektirmiştir. Bu durum, yükseköğretim alanında kapsamlı reform süreçlerinin ortaya çıkışına zemin hazırlamıştır. Bu süreçlerden biri ortak bir Avrupa Yükseköğretim Alanı oluşturmayı hedefleyen Bologna süreci, diğeri ise bilgi temelli bir toplum ile Avrupa'yı dünyanın en rekabetçi ekonomisi haline getirmeyi amaçlayan Lizbon sürecidir. Bologna ve Lizbon süreçleri yükseköğretim alanında kapsamlı düzenlemelere neden olurken, öğrencilerin ne bildiğinden çok ne yapabildiği üzerine odaklanan yeni bir eğitim anlayışını beraberinde getirmiştir. Söz konusu gelişmelerin akademik çeviri eğitimi açısından ne anlam ifade ettiği bu çalışmanın çıkış noktasını oluşturmuştur. Bu merakla Avrupa'da ve Türkiye'de akademik çeviri eğitiminin Bologna süreci kapsamında nasıl bir dönüşüm geçirdiği incelenmiştir. Böylece Bologna sürecinin ve bu süreci model alan çeviri eğitimi yaklaşımının çevirmenlik mesleğinin yeterliliklerini ne ölçüde karşılayabildiği tartışılmıştır. Bologna süreci kapsamında gerçekleştirilen reformların akademik çeviri eğitimine olumlu yönde bir etkisinin olduğu ve Bologna süreci ile belirlenen akademik yeterliliklerin, çeviri sektöründeki mesleki yeterlilikler ile örtüştüğü görülmüştür. In tandem with the globalization process, developments that have taken place in science and technology have transformed almost all aspects of life in the 21st century. In this progress, knowledge stands out as the most valuable asset that societies have. The biggest responsibility in building knowledge-based societies rested upon the shoulders of higher education institutions, and this responsibility brought with it the necessity of reforming higher education systems so that they can meet the future needs of the society. This laid the ground for the emergence of comprehensive educational reform initiatives in the higher education area. One of these initiatives is the Bologna Process which seeks to create a common higher education area and the other one is the Lisbon Process whose ambition is to turn Europe into the most competitive knowledge-based economy in the world. Bologna and Lisbon Processes have caused comprehensive changes in the higher education area, accompanied by a new educational approach which mainly focuses on what students can do rather than what they know. What these developments really mean for academic translation education is the departure point of this study. With this curiosity, the transformation academic translation education has been going through around Europe and in Turkey in the context of Bologna Process has been investigated. In this way, the question of to what extent the Bologna Process and the translation education taking this process as a model can meet the qualifications of the translation profession has been discussed. It is revealed that reforms that have been implemented within the scope of the Bologna Process have a positive impact on academic translation education and academic qualifications of Bologna Process are compatible with the professional qualifications of translation sector.
