Çeviri amaçlı metin çözümlemesi, işlev odaklı bir çeviri anlayışıyla kaynak metnin çözümlenmesidir. Her çeviri eylemi farklı değişkenlerle şekillenen bir çeviri sürecini beraberinde getirdiğinden, çevirmenin süreci çözümleyerek yönetebilmesi gerekir. Kaynak metnin içinde yer aldığı kültür bağlamında çözümlenmesi, işveren ve erek kitle beklentisinin somutlaştırılması, üretilen erek metne işlev kazandırır. Bu anlayışla çeviri sürecini yönlendirebilen bir çevirmenin çeviri edincine sahip olduğu söylenebilir. Sözü edilen çeviri edinci, akademik çeviri eğitimi kapsamında yer alan derslerle öğrenciye kazandırılması hedeflenen bir kavramdır. Bu çerçevede, çeviri eylemini kuşatan amaç, işlev, metin, kültür, iş tanımı, süreçte yer alan aktörler gibi öğeleri kapsayan çeviri amaçlı metin çözümlemesi dersi, öğrenciye çeviribilimin hem kuramsal hem de uygulamalı alanlarına ilişkin temel bir bakış açısı kazandırmaya yönelik bir derstir. Öğrencilerin, bu bakış açısı ile çeviri eğitiminde yer alan uygulamaya ve kurama yönelik dersler arasında bağlantı kurabileceği düşünülmektedir. Bu doğrultuda, çalışmanın konusu işlevsel yaklaşımlarla kuşatılan çeviri amaçlı metin çözümlemesi dersidir. Çalışmanın birinci bölümünde, akademik çeviri eğitiminin amaçları ele alınmış, bu bağlamda çeviri edinci kavramı somutlaştırılmıştır. İkinci bölümde, işlevsel yaklaşımlar çerçevesinde çeviri amaçlı metin çözümleme yöntemi incelenmiştir. Öte yandan, kaynak metni kuşatan öğelerin çözümlenmesi sürecinde amaç, işlev, kültür, metin, çeviri süreci aktörleri gibi kavramlar değerlendirilmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde, bu yöntemin derse yansıması incelenmiş, işlevsel bir ders tasarlama süreci ele alınarak yapılan uygulama çalışmalarına örnekler verilmiştir. Çalışmanın uygulama ve gerekçelendirme bölümleri için Yaşar Üniversitesi Mütercim-Tercümanlık Bölümü 2014-2015 ve 2015-2016 Akademik yıllarında yer alan Çeviri Amaçlı Metin Çözümlemesi, Yazılı Çeviriye Giriş ve Çeviri Kuramları derslerinin ödev ve sınavlarından bir bütünce oluşturulmuştur. Çeviri Amaçlı Metin Çözümlemesi dersinin işlevselliği, bütünce kapsamında belirlenen derslere ilişkin ödev ve sınavlar üzerinden, belirlenen değerlendirme ölçütleriyle irdelenmiş ve çeviri edinci ile bağlantılı olarak ele alınmıştır.
Translation Oriented Text Analysis is a function oriented approach which focuses on analysing the source text. As each act of translation is shaped by different variables, the translator should be able to analyse the translation process accordingly. By analysing the cultural context of the source text, determining expectations of the commissioner and the target audience, translator gives the target text its function. The translator who does so and control the translation process has translation competence. Translation competence is also one of the key concepts in translator training. It involves elements such as purpose, function, text, culture, translation brief, and actors partaking in the translation process, and its main aim is to familiarize students in both theoretical and applied fields of Translation Studies. Students taking this course are expected to see the relationship between theoretical and applied fields of Translation Studies. Therefore, this study focuses on Translation Oriented Text Analysis course whose main framework consists of functional approaches. The first chapter of this study explains the purposes of translator training on the academic basis, namely, translation competence. The second chapter frames the Translation Oriented Text Analysis with functional approaches. Moreover, concepts like purpose, function, culture, text and actors of translation process are taken into consideration. The third chapter explores the application of the approach on the actual course and gives examples from practices which were designed with a functional purpose in mind. The corpus of the descriptive study consists of homework and exam papers of such courses as Translation Oriented Text Analysis, Introduction to Translation, Translation Theory, which take place in the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 curricula of the Department of Translation and Interpreting, Yaşar University. Functionality of the Translation Oriented Text Analysis course is tested on the aforementioned courses in consideration for the criteria concerning translation competence.
